Before I share anything more about myself, you must know this…On most days I honestly feel like just a little girl. Then I remember the story in Scripture about how the Lord fed thousands of people by miraculously multiplying a little boy’s lunch.
I am just me…offering what could never be enough. Yet, I am excited about what the Lord may do through my little “lunch” offering.
While I may many times feel like a little girl, the reality is that I’ve been a Jesus follower for over thirty-five years. Nothing fancy for sure, just pure faith, but I’m still here dreaming big with God.
Much of my life revolves around the people that I love the most and FAMILY is so important to me! Other than a relationship with my Creator, it is family that occupies my time ~ our own and the family of God.
Daniel and I have been married since 1991. This may be my greatest claim to fame since at one time I was convinced that I would NEVER marry! Through the years, we have met incredible people and have enjoyed so many adventures! We’ve built a home together that has been a refuge to many and is still home to our four youngest kids.
We have had a longstanding interest in what God is doing around the world and especially in Southeast Asia. We’ve spent time learning more about the culture there, and our hearts have burned to find solutions to their greatest needs. You can trace times in our lives when God graciously allowed us to help others working in these critical areas. So, it was pure joy to hear CHF’s founder, Al Henson, invite Daniel to come work with him. Without even knowing the particulars my heart shouted an excited and thankful, “YES, God, YES!”
We understand how important EDUCATION is for survival in today’s world. For us especially, it is precious to learn just how committed CHF is to the education of the children in the Homes of Hope. CHF encourages and provides support for them to continue their education all the way through college or vocational school if they choose. This is a game-changer for these kids and a unique part of our ministry! We KNOW that CHF is making a difference in marginalized people groups by giving these children an opportunity to go to school and learn.
Our hearts continue to gravitate towards those who need to hear how much God loves them. I love Scripture–I find it inspiring, comforting, powerful, and life CHANGING! I believe the Bible is the preserved Words of my Creator to me, and to you. Thus I am not ashamed of the gospel and I found good news in this…I was lost and without hope of finding my way. I heard the transforming words of Jesus while I was in a tired and needy place and there I met my Savior. It has been an amazing journey of discovery ever since!
“Come unto me, ALL ye that labor and are heavy laden (burdened), and I will give you rest. Learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls.”
Matthew 11:28-29
